This glass outworld display arena offers a clear, elegant foraging space with multiple viewing angles and a sturdy, easy-to-service design that helps prevent escapes. The proportions vary across the seven sizes, with the height sitting at roughly 64 to 75% of the length depending on the model, giving the arena a clean, ‘HD’ display look.

Each arena has a PLA Pro bottom frame with four clear glass panels forming the walls, and one wall includes three bottom tubing ports for ample connectivity options. The top includes a dual-lid layout with a removable plastic fine grid (0.3 mm pores) and wide horizontal ledges along the underside of the primary lid, where escape barriers are most effective as ants naturally walk upside down along this rim when exploring the top edge.

The outworld is made mainly of clear glass; the 3D-printed PLA Pro elements form the bottom and upper structures and seal all joints. The four glass panels meet directly at the edges, with micro-gaps filled using clear UV resin and aquarium-safe silicone. Only the outside corners feature protective plastic pieces. The interior remains plain glass, meaning the bottom plastic is fully separated from the upper structure for an uninterrupted viewing area.

Seven sizes are available, from 8×8×6 to 20×20×14 cm (Length × Width × Height). The smaller 8×8×6 option is slightly larger than our standard mini glass outworld (2-glass design). The first photos correspond to the 20×20×14 size, and the rest show the 10×10×7.

  • This outworld uses our dual-lid system, built around the large primary lid that sits flush against the top frame and creates a wide horizontal ledge where escape barriers are most effective; ants reaching the top must walk upside down along this underside, making it much harder for them to push toward an opening when the smaller mesh lid is lifted. This combination of flush contact, ledge geometry, and barrier placement makes routine access extremely escape-resistant.

The mesh lid fits cleanly into its recessed seat on the primary lid, forming its own flush boundary. Its 0.3 mm ventilation grid provides strong airflow while remaining small enough that most ant species cannot pass through it. This keeps the outworld dry and helps prevent condensation without compromising safety. Because the mesh lid opens independently, you can replace feeders or remove scraps without exposing the entire outworld.

On larger sizes (14×14×9 up to 20×20×14), the primary lid includes four corner magnets that ensure it always sits fully flush and aligned with the frame, preventing micro-gaps that can appear on wider lids. Smaller sizes (12×12×8 and below) don’t require magnets due to tighter geometry, but the magnets on larger lids are removable if preferred.
